Walk-and-Talk Therapy
Therapy That Gets You Moving
Walk-and-talk therapy is offered as a private-pay service. A 60-minute session is $175, and a 90-minute session is $225. Walk-and-talk therapy is a form of counseling that takes place outdoors while you and your therapist walk together in a designated location. Instead of sitting across from one another in an office, sessions offer the opportunity to talk through your experiences, emotions, and challenges while moving in a natural setting.
Before beginning walk-and-talk therapy, we will complete an intake session and two additional sessions, either virtually or in person. This allows us to explore your concerns, establish therapeutic goals, and review the policies and considerations specific to outdoor sessions to help ensure walk-and-talk therapy is an appropriate fit for your needs. Payment and cancellation policies will also be reviewed before your first appointment.

Walk-and-talk therapy may be a good fit if you:
Feel restless, tense, or uncomfortable sitting still for an entire session.
Find it easier to open up while walking or doing something alongside another person.
Spend a lot of time in your head and want opportunities to slow down and reconnect with the present moment.
Experience anxiety in social situations or tend to overthink conversations and interactions.
Want to build confidence, practice expressing your needs, or work on setting boundaries.
Simply prefer a more relaxed, outdoor environment over a traditional therapy office.
You don't need to check every box to consider walk-and-talk therapy. What matters most is finding a setting where you feel comfortable enough to participate in the therapeutic process.

Every walk-and-talk session is guided by your needs and therapeutic goals. Some days, you may want to process something that happened during the week. Other days, you may want to work through a recurring pattern, practice a coping skill, or explore a decision you've been struggling to make.
1. We start with what you need that day.
At the beginning of the session, we'll check in about how you've been feeling, what's been coming up, and what you would like to focus on. You don't need to arrive with a perfectly organized explanation of what's bothering you.
2. We walk and talk at a comfortable pace.
We'll walk along an agreed-upon route while talking through your experiences, emotions, and concerns. The pace is based on your comfort, and the focus stays on therapy rather than exercise.
3. We make space for reflection and practical tools.
Depending on your goals, we may explore thought patterns, identify emotional triggers, discuss relationship dynamics, practice grounding strategies, or work on ways to respond differently to challenging situations.
4. We wrap up with takeaways.
Toward the end of the session, we'll reflect on what stood out, identify anything you'd like to continue exploring, and discuss practical steps or skills to work on between sessions.

Therapy is personal, and you deserve space to talk about what's going on in your life without feeling like you need to have everything figured out beforehand.
Walk-and-talk sessions can be a space to explore your thoughts, feelings, relationships, stressors, and life experiences. Together, we'll determine what feels appropriate to discuss while walking and whether certain topics may be better suited for a more private setting.
You don't have to decide ahead of time what you're allowed to talk about. We'll work collaboratively to find an approach that feels comfortable, supportive, and appropriate for your needs.

Your privacy is important, and the same professional confidentiality obligations apply during walk-and-talk therapy. However, outdoor settings cannot offer the same level of privacy as a private office. Other people may pass nearby or unintentionally overhear parts of a conversation. We'll discuss these limitations before beginning, take reasonable steps to choose an appropriate route and maintain discretion, and work together to determine whether this format feels right for you.

The session rate reflects more than the time we spend together. Each appointment includes time for travel to and from the designated meeting location, session preparation, clinical documentation, and planning for continuity of care. This time is reserved specifically for you, both before and after your session, to ensure you receive thoughtful, individualized support.
Your rate also reflects the professional training, licensure, ongoing education, and administrative responsibilities involved in providing ethical, quality therapy. Because walk-and-talk sessions require dedicated travel time and additional scheduling considerations, the rate accounts for the time and resources needed to provide this service.
